Sasta is a story of ingenuity, resilience, and a deep connection to nature. What we call innovation today was, back in the 60’s, simply one young man’s need for gear that could withstand the harshest conditions.
Urpo Saastamoinen – Sasta's founder – was an independent thinker, a relentless doer, and above all, a man who forged his own path. He believed in himself and in what he made. Growing up in the wild landscapes of North Karelia, Urpo quickly learned that nature is unforgiving. To keep going, he needed gear he could rely on – strong, functional, and built to last. But when he couldn’t find what he needed, he made it himself.
That same resilient attitude lives on today. Sasta’s gear is born where it’s used – outdoor, in the rain and snow, by the flickering firelight, and in the coastal winds that bite to the bone. Ideas are tested where they matter most: in the wilderness, on city streets, along running trails and asphalt roads. Every small refinement, every detail, is crafted for one purpose – to stand for protection, durability, and freedom of movement.
Our clothing is for those who know what they want. Sasta is for those who, like Saastamoinen, take on the wild side of life. So no matter the adventure, we are with you – not only in the wilderness but everywhere else you go.
